Things to do in Lanzarote

Many places on the island are worth a visit. However, without a doubt, the most important and recommended site is the Timanfaya National Park, or rather, the spectacle of what nature can build with lava. Other places that you can enjoy with a rental car include the Jameos del Agua and the Cueva de los Verdes, located in the north-east of the island, as well as the La Geria area, where you can sample superb wines. There are also the fantastic beaches at the southern end which surround the island, the most well-known of which is Papagayo.

Places to visit near Lanzarote

From the south of Lanzarote, and if you want to discover a second island, you can take the ferry over to Corralejo in Fuerteventura from Playa Blanca. Here, you can find Betancuria, a must-visit and one of the most beautiful villages on the Canary Islands. This new destination is known for its kilometre-long beaches (the most notable being Corralejo, Cotillo, Pájara and Cofete), where it's still possible to take a dip all by yourself.

Parking and traffic in Lanzarote

Luckily for drivers, Lanzarote is not yet an island besieged by traffic, so driving on its roads is still relatively pleasant. In the tourist hotspots, you'll also find large parking areas where you can park with ease. There is, however, a caveat if you're wanting to drive into Arrecife. Because it's the densest area demographically, there is more traffic, making it more difficult to find somewhere to park.
